Job Title: Buried Facility Locate Technician

Reports To: Director

Position Overview

The Buried Facility Locate Technician will successfully locate and manage all buried facilities for client base. The Buried Facility locate technician will execute all functions of Locating including but not limited to locating all buried facilities on client’s sites, mapping of all buried facilities over drone images, and communicate all findings to the client while adhering to all safety aspects required in the field operations.

General Responsibilities

  • Must be able to read site plans, area maps and blueprints

  • Utilize site plans, area maps, blueprints, computer mapping database to facilitate locate of underground facilities

  • Locate and mark buried facility locations and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or other appropriate authorities

  • Operate line locating equipment, including metal detector and GPS

  • Attend safety and tailgate meetings at project sites or office to discuss and plan daily activities

  • Attend training, health and safety, or other professional development courses or sessions as required

  • Provide accurate documentation and/or sketches with measurements using an computer drawing tools

  • Maintain accurate records of work time and client identities to allow proper assignment of charge codes

  • Operate company vehicle in a safe manner, and maintain professional appearance

  • Transport location equipment and supplies to assigned job sites

  • clean and maintain locating equipment

  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and procedures, including completing daily safety forms and reports

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma

  • Must have proficient computer skills including all apple products and email.

  • At least 3 years of experience in a line locating role – preferably in the oil and gas or construction industry

  • Must have a valid driver’s license (Class 5)

  • Certified line locating training

  • Fluent in English

  • Must have all following safety tickets: H2S Alive, First Aid Level C and CPR, WHMIS, CSO, ATV Training, and Bear Awareness Training

  • Must be able to work long hours in outdoor environment where conditions can range from extreme hot to cold conditions.
